Why are boundaries important?

Boundaries are important to maintain both productivity and good social dynamics within our work environment. Without boundaries there are no firm guidelines for behaviour.

Failure to understand and fulfill your duties in regards to your responsibilities as a worker may result in harm to either yourself or others. It may also lead to legal action being taken against you.

Being aware of professional boundaries and working within MCCGC’s policies and procedures will protect you as a home care worker.


Having no boundaries can cause an unhealthy work environment and lead to :

–Reduced motivation to take on additional responsibilities
–Legal liability
–Confusion over job roles (scope of practice)
